Theme of the Month: Capturing the Night Sky

For our final Theme of the Month, we’re turning our gaze skyward to celebrate the beauty of Night Skies through art and print. This collection brings together iconic artworks, studio-created prints, breathtaking photography, celestial wonders, and the emotion and power held within the night sky...

We begin with Van Gogh’s Starry Night, a masterpiece renowned for its swirling motion, vibrant light, and unforgettable atmosphere.

Next, we feature this stunning photograph by local photographer Joel Griffiths, capturing the shimmering aurora across the night sky, beautifully printed in our studio.

Edvard Munch’s Starry Night Over the Rhone draws us into a romantic riverside scene, with reflections of gas lamps dancing in the water under a luminous, starlit sky.

Caspar David Friedrich’s Two Men Contemplating the Moon captures the quiet wonder of humans dwarfed by the vastness of the cosmos, inviting introspection and awe.

And Joseph Wright of Derby’s An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump uses dramatic chiaroscuro to show the mix of light and darkness, reminiscent of the mysterious depth of night.

Through these masterpieces, contemporary prints, and stunning photography, our Night Skies collection celebrates the artistry, beauty, and emotion of the night sky, encouraging everyone to pause, look up, and be inspired.
