Welcome to our first "Artist of the Month" blog post! As fellow artists, we are thrilled to be showcasing talented artists who never cease to amaze us with their remarkable artwork. Each month, we will be featuring an artist that we collaborate with whose distinctive style and originality have captured our attention. From oil paintings to watercolour pieces and everything in between, our featured artists are sure to inspire and captivate you with their unique creativity. Whether you're an art collector, a fellow artist, or simply appreciate the beauty of art, we hope you enjoy our "Artist of the Month" blog post.
To kick off we have chosen mixed-media artist Sarah Manovski as our first Artist of the Month. We're delighted to be printing Sarah's hand-painted mixed media artworks, packed with vibrant colour and beautiful detail.
We have asked Sarah a few questions to find out more about her and her craft...
Q. Where have you found inspiration lately?
A. I absolutely love nature and as a mum, I'm always pointing out different colours and new flowers to my young boys so they can always be present and aware, so I would so nature.
Q. Is there a piece of art or a project that you are particularly excited about right now?
A. My 3 big cats in the jungle prints are by far my most popular pieces so I've been working on different scenes to recreate these pieces and give customers other options.
Q. What kinds of tools or references do you like to use when creating artwork?
A. I'm a mixed media artist, so I paint random textures and use gold leaf a lot and then photograph them to use them in my digital art.
Q. What artists or artworks (from your life or art history) do you admire or consider influential to your work & why?
A. I really love Elisabeth Fredriksson's cubes. I purchased a few of her artworks years ago which Made me start experimenting with learning digital art and transforming my love of painting and photography into digital art.
Q. What advice do you have for other new or aspiring artists?
A. Just put yourself out there. Know what your style is and know who your customer base is.
Q. Professionally, what has been your biggest achievement so far?
A. Honestly, just selling my art. Everyday I feel so blessed that there's so many people who want to buy my art.
Q. What is your first memory of creating art?
A. Painting with my 4 year old and 2 year old and seeing how much they love it.
Q. How do you spend your time when you’re not creating artwork?
A. Playing with my children or walking through the park with my family and dog.
Q. What work do you most enjoy doing?
A. Drawing animals in nature.
Q. What is your dream project?
A. To collaborate with more restaurants and galleries and have my pieces displayed in more public spaces. It's a very very special thing, seeing your artwork hung in a space where heaps of people can see it.
